Status of Eon Games

Posted 2005-06-29 13:00 PST by David Hedbor

Currently no further development or porting is ongoing. Support for current products is limited to "as-is" (i.e don't expect bug fixes or support for newer distros). I am sometimes slow to respond to support requests. If you feel like you're not getting fast enough response, send email to my personal address at david@hedbor.org. I have no intent to not provide products paid for (there's still flaws with the email sales reports coming to me at times) but sometimes miss emails sent to eongames addresses.

Fixed: Expired Key URLs

Posted 2005-06-29 13:00 PST by David Hedbor

It seems like the fix to expired URLs didn't actually work correctly. It always returned the "invalid url" error instead of the expire key page. This has now been fixed.

Automatic download URLs

Posted 2005-04-04 8:30 PST by David Hedbor

The download URL system was just improved to automatically send you an updated URL if you attempt a download with an valid but expired key. This removes the human step that was previously needed for this to be done.

Site crash

Posted 2005-01-14 10:30 PST by David Hedbor

Due to various circumstances, the eongames.com site has been reverted to a state of July 2003. This means that certain downloads and might not be available and old information might be present. Please be patient as I try to resolve the issues with this.

Snails Port Announced

Posted 2003-03-07 01:20 PST by David Hedbor

I am very pleased to announce the upcoming port of Snails, a game in the Scorched Earth genre (to be exact, it's similar to the well-known game series featuring another kind of slimy animals with heavy weaponry). This is an excellent title with great gameplay and graphics. In addition to mission mode and deathmatch against the computer, the game also features single-device and networked 2 player modes.

Bust'em 1.2 Update Released

Posted 2003-03-06 01:36 PST by David Hedbor

This is a bugfix release - the main improvement is that the device no longer will hang on the highscore entry page in the Japanese version. The English version also have some international characters in the highscore entry screen. The audio playback should also be improved in this release. There are no new features or changes to game play.

Posted 2002-12-09 01:44 PST by David Hedbor

After a few months of no releases, it's time to announce the release of the Motocross Stunt Racer demo. This is the latest release from Digital Concepts. As one can guess from the title, this is a motocross game. Enjoy!

Update 2002-12-12: A new demo is released. It has the same file name name and version. It fixes the sound problem on iPAQ's as well as improves the mixer (volume louder, less/no distortion/crackling). This is very likely to be the final build.

The Future

Posted 2002-12-09 01:42 PST by David Hedbor

Other than MSR, announced above, there are couple of new titles pending that I'd like to announce. The first is Hyperspace Delivery Boy by Monkeystone Games. This game will be release first for Linux desktop and then for the Zaurus PDA's.

The second game is Dragon Bane 2 by Mythological Software, a fantasy role playing game with gameplay similar to the Bard's Tale series. This is the sequel to the popular PalmOS-only adventure game Dragon Bane.

There is also a third title for the Zaurus that will be announced shortly!

RocketElite released!

Posted 2002-09-02 21:30 PST by David Hedbor

I would like to announce the release of RocketElite for the Sharp Zaurus platform. This is a very cool space shoot'em'up with game play inspired from games like Moonlander, Gravity Force and Turbo Raketti. It's more advanced and features a long single player campaign as well as 1vs1 multiplayer deathmatch using irDA or UDP/IP.

Find out more about the game, check out the screenshots and download the demo You can also check out the PocketPC site at http://www.rocketelite.com/.

Priced at $18.99, RocketElite can be purchased from our webstore. Enjoy!

More game updates!

Posted 2002-09-02 21:30 PST by David Hedbor

I have several game updates to announce. The most significant one is Bust'em 1.1. This version greatly improves performance in certain instances (when you have many guided balls). It also adds configurable gamma correction and the option to grab the hardware keys through Eon Config. Finally it fixes audio issues on the Japanese SL-A300. I also released the Japanese localized version of Bust'em.

Other updates are Strategic Assault 1.8.5 which fixes the key upgrabbing bug and grabs the keys by default. PurpleBlaster 2.3 also fixes the issues with key grabbing and also fixes a display bug Sharp Zaurus SL-A300.

Eligo 1.0.2

Posted 2002-08-28 00:57 PST by David Hedbor

Just released Eligo 1.0.2. This version adds no features and fixes no bugs. What it does change is data path, file names and packaging. It uses our new "zip-file with shared libraries in separate ipk's" packaging.

Also uploaded updated versions of the PurpleBlaster and Strategic Assault packages. Note that these doesn't change anything but packaging (using the zip file).

PurpleBlaster 2.2 and Strategic Assault 1.8.4

Posted 2002-08-04 23:45 PST by David Hedbor

These new releases mainly adds support our new tool EonConfig (included with the downloads). This tool allows configuration of options unique to our ports. Currently this includes gamma correction level and hardware key grabbing. Another change is that any LGPL libraries used will be installed automatically as a separate package (and will thus be shared between applications). This both saves space if many games are installed and also solved the problem with LGPL. There is no longer a need for static binaries.

If you have purchased the Forest Fire expansion pack, you need to update it to version 1.0.4 when you install the new Strategic Assault due to a change of data directories (which will be made consistent throughout all out products).

To download the updated versions either use the link you received in the purchase email (PurpleBlaster and Forest Fire) or on the download page (Strategic Assault). If you purchased any of these on Handango, you can download the updated versions from there.

PurpleBlaster released

Posted 2002-07-21 14:06 PST by David Hedbor

PurpleBlaster by PurplePecker is now out! You can read more about the game, view some screenshots, download the demo or purchase the full version for just $5.99 in our store.

Please note that the demo is updated over the version previously released.

Posted 2002-07-19 08:00 PST by David Hedbor

The Sharp Zaurus port of Candy Cruncher, Pyrogon's first game is finally released. This game was ported from the desktop but is as if made for the Zaurus - handheld stylus gameplay is awesome. You can get it from Pyrogon.

Also just released is an early demo for RocketElite, the best-selling first game from Digital Concepts. This game, which is similar to games like Turbo Raketti and Gravity Force, features 40 levels and 2-player UDP/IP networking (infrared networking might be added before release of the full game). Try the demo today.
